ADAPTIVE MEDIA® INTERVIEW COACH
The Adaptive Media® Interview Coach is an award-winning adaptive interview training experience designed to help disadvantaged young people develop confidence, emotional intelligence and essential soft skills for employment. It combines interactive video, scenario-based learning and privacy-first Emotion AI to personalise interview preparation in real time on standard college devices.
Built using A-dapt’s Adaptive Media® format, Interview Coach responds to both learner choices and emotional engagement. Learners interact directly with video scenarios, while the system assesses answer quality, confidence, positivity and attention. Emotion AI runs securely in the browser to provide real-time feedback, helping learners become more aware of how they present themselves and how they are perceived—similar to a real interview situation.
The prototype was developed with Nacro Education and funded by Innovate UK, focusing on young adults aged 16–19 who do not fit into mainstream education. Piloted in two Nacro Learning Centres and independently assessed by The Institute for Employment Studies, the trial demonstrated significant improvements in confidence, engagement and interview performance, including a 54% increase in answer quality. The project shows how emotionally intelligent, adaptive video can help learners practise safely and build employability skills that are difficult to teach through conventional methods.
